BJJ / Grappling Legends: Rickson Gracie

Fighting Fit Manchester will soon be hosting a seminar with former UFC heavy weight champion Frank Mir. Frank has a very practical approach to BJJ, in which he has a black belt. I've always loved the truth and practicality of BJJ, not that I'm interested in MMA or self defence, but because you can't make any claims without having them tested and re-tested. BJJ is honest and true.

There are heroes in our art, people who embody the inner spirit of the art. Rickson Gracie is one such hero and he ranks top banana in most players' books so when he talks we all listen. The man slapped the Hulk for heaven's sake!

Big thank you goes to BJJHacks.com, BJJWeekly.com and Scramble for documenting this conversation with a true master of the arte suave: Rickson Gracie.

Heh - he's still got that magic power to excite BJJers, as I think this is now the sixth blog in a row on my Reader to mention that vid. ;)

Not that I can watch it yet, as my phone doesn't do flash. :(

He symbolises many good things about the art. I don't think it's about him personally any more, but what he stands for. I've never met him. Would love to, but at the same time, I'm grateful he exists and, in the public eye, stands for what he stands for :)
